Fraudulent phone calls and texts

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)

Recently, fraudulent phone calls and text messages have been reported that appear to come from Canada Revenue Service. These calls are fraudulent and were not made by the Government of Canada.

Unless you are the caller, do not give out personal information.

Be wary of fraudulent contacts pretending to be Revenue Canada. Send a text message or phone call to request information about the bank account in order to reimburse the overpayment (employment insurance benefit + Canadian emergency benefit).
You will receive the refund request (if applicable) via a letter to your home. There may be a reimbursement agreement but at this time the government does not plan to request an immediate reimbursement. In the event that you have to repay an amount, everything indicates that it will be done during your next tax return.

Be on the lookout!
